Welcome Trojan Plastics to Made in Yorkshire
We’re proud to welcome Trojan Plastics Ltd as the newest Gold Member of Made in Yorkshire. Based in Huddersfield, Trojan is a family-run business that has grown to become one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of acrylic baths — a shining example of British manufacturing excellence.
Operating from their main site in Milnsbridge, Trojan has the capacity to produce up to 8,000 baths and 14,000 panels each week, subject to labour rather than cap-ex. While current market demand sits below maximum capacity, Trojan remains a major local employer, supporting over 200 jobs and contributing to the economic stability of surrounding districts. The business forms part of a wider group that includes Mantaleda Bathrooms and the iconic Thomas Crapper & Co. Ltd, united by a shared focus on quality and craftsmanship.
Trojan’s commitment to UK industry is unwavering. They continue to invest in their local production facilities, support the domestic supply chain, and play a key role in preserving traditional manufacturing skills in Britain.
"Our commitment to British manufacturing is demonstrated through our continued investment in local production facilities, maintaining traditional manufacturing skills in the UK, and supporting the domestic supply chain. By keeping our manufacturing operations in Britain, we help to preserve valuable industrial expertise while providing quality products made to the highest standards."
Why Made in Yorkshire?
We asked Trojan’s Managing Director, David Mosley, what inspired them to join the Made in Yorkshire network. He shared:
"We joined Made in Yorkshire inspired by the opportunity to engage with fellow regional manufacturers about the shared challenges we all face. As a Yorkshire-based business, we value the chance to discuss common issues such as; recruitment and retention of skilled staff, navigating complex health and safety legislation, developing effective routes to market and building strategies to defend against competition.
What particularly attracted us was Made in Yorkshire's diverse membership portfolio. This variety of businesses creates an environment for open, honest conversations without the risk of conflicts of interest. The organisation brings together manufacturers from different sectors, allowing for valuable knowledge exchange whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries.
The collaborative nature of the network provides us with fresh perspectives on industry-wide challenges, helping us to develop innovative solutions that strengthen not only our business but Yorkshire's manufacturing sector as a whole. Being part of this community aligns with our commitment to supporting local industry and contributing to the region's manufacturing heritage."
Connecting with Like-minded Members
As for the types of businesses Trojan hopes to build relationships with, David added:
"As a family business we value relationships with diverse companies who can offer fresh perspectives on universal business challenges. We're primarily looking to connect with manufacturers and service providers who face similar internal and external challenges to our own. Our approach to networking is focused on finding common ground with businesses that navigate the same issues we face; employee development and retention issues, regulatory compliance requirements, supply chain complexities and those that face overseas competition and how they position themselves."
We’re delighted to welcome Trojan Plastics as a Gold Member of Made in Yorkshire. Their legacy, scale, and dedication to local manufacturing perfectly represent the strength and spirit of our network. Welcome aboard, Trojan, we’re excited to have you with us.
